LOVETTSVILLE VA IS STILL IN WINTER WEATHER BUT I HAVE TULIPS BLOOMING IN MY SUNROOM IN EARLY MARCH.

LOVETTSVILLE VA IS STILL IN WINTER WEATHER BUT I HAVE TULIPS BLOOMING IN MY SUN ROOM IN EARLY MARCH.

Tulips in my Sunroom

Back in early February, I brought the 4 pots of Tulips I was "forcing" in my garage.  I'm not sure of the date when these bulbs were planted but it would have been around November or early December.   I'd have planted them in the yard, but I just never got to it.  So, in the pots of soil they went, covered and placed on a table in my garage.

Early February, I could see the "shoots"peeking through the soil, so I brought them in, watered them thoroughly, put them in a sheltered location in a corner of the Kitchen to avoid shock.   About 2 weeks ago, I put them in my Sun Room.

WHAT A WAY TO WAIT FOR SPRING.

Do you tip toe thru the sun room Lenn? Or own a ukulele?

Andrew.  It that's what it took to have flowers in my Sun Room, I surely would.

Lenn - must be a very pleasant sight as winter drags on. The tulips, crocuses and other spring flowers were always such a welcoming sight in New England. Now. well...

Jeff.  In time, we'll have all of our wonderful blossoms.  I just have no patience.

I want them NOW.

Oh Lenn, those are stunning.  I am an amateur gardener (very amateur).  I read about it much more than I actually do it.  Tulip bulbs have always been on my list of things to do but I've always found them daunting.

Those are tulips?  They're very pretty and don't seem to be the 'traditional'  The stalks look tulip, but the flower is different to me.  Very gorgeous, and more elegant looking.  I'm used to the rounded shapes.  They like your sun room it seems.  Spring has sprung . . .

Maggie.  Tulips are one of the easiest things to grow.  Just throw the bulbs 6 inches in the ground at the right time of the year and in the spring, you'll have tulips.

Carla.  They were purchased from Cosco for $9.00 for a bag of 100.  Such a deal.  I didn't much care about the type of bulb at those prices, knowing I was going to "force" them.

Beautiful, Lenn!  I love flowers of any kind, but haven't fooled much with bulbs.  Those beauties make me want to reconsider that...

Hi Lenn... being surrounded by natural beauty like that indoors makes whatever is going on with the outside weather irrelevant!   Bring on the Spring!

Lenn, the flowers are such a beautiful color!  I am so ready for spring this year!

Lenn, great idea to get spring started early.  Doug and I were just discussing this morning what seeds to start planting for our vegetable garden.  Daffodils are popping out of the ground - amazing how plants just respond to the sun's growing warmth year after year!  Thanks for the great photos.    ---Gloria

Doug.  I beleieve that the plants respond to the longer daylight hours too.  I have fabulous blossoms in my yard, but I know I've lost a lot of stuff out there from the snow and the snow removal.  I'm just waiting for a warm couple of days to work, work, work.

Jen.  I'm more than ready.

Steve.  PLEASE bring on spring.  I spend 3 hours at the trap range today and it was just about 5 degrees less than I needed to be comfortable.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.  It's the wind that goes through you.

Lisa.  Bulbs are wonderful.  You just put them in the ground and year after year, they return on schedule.  They even "naturalize" and you get more every year.  Bulbs are my favorite.

Kevin.  Indeed.  I'll have spring a couple of weeks before you.
